Game functions are calculated server-side. What mods have ruined the game? Please elaborate. Mostly, it's knowing where to be, thinking about flanking, and for some, working well with their platoon. You can see what they see, you can learn why they are so damned effective. You can also go watch some of the unicums play on twitch. Very, very few of the tanks that I shoot and kill ever see me. I generally play it behind bushes or outside of spotting range of any enemy tank. I have cammo paint, and cammo net, and a crew working on their 5th or 6th skill, including 100% cammo skill. I've also killed tanks beyond draw range, guessing where they would be as they went from draw range beyond. Indeed, I was once killed by arty who did just that, when I was hiding at a well known TD spot on the map. Arty will sometimes lob a shell into a favorite sniping/scouting bush just to see if it hits. For example, you can sometimes make shrewd guesses where enemy tanks are based on where your team is being spotted or shot, even when the enemy is unspotted. I've have killed tanks unseen and unspotted. I wonder if you (OP) are mistaking good play for mods.

To me, that affects the outcome of battles than any mod I've seen. When there's a platoon, I often see 0 kills between the three of them, but a lot of bravado charging directly at the enemy and dying within 1 minute of start.
When they are at the top of the list, their team is effectively playing 14 v 15. The biggest difference that I've seen has been an influx of players from two certain countries (generally identified by a certain flag next to their name) who inevitably have <1k battles, a Win8<200, and are playing premium Tier VIII tanks. I stopped playing for a few months, and came back about a month ago.
